bet365's boxing insider Rob Tebbutt provides his best bets for Saturday night's super-welterweight clash between Serhii Bohachuk and Ishmael Davis.
Rob Tebbutt says...
Serhii Bohachuk faces late-replacement Ishmael Davis on the Usyk vs Fury 2 undercard for Bohachuk’s WBC Interim super-welterweight titles.
Bohachuk (1/8) is one of the division’s elite campaigners, having dropped unbeaten American star Vergil Ortiz Jr. twice back in August in a bout that many observers felt the Ukrainian did enough to win. At his best, Bohachuk is a physically imposing, high-output pressure-fighter with no obvious weaknesses.
For Davis (5/1), having taken this fight on just a few weeks notice, this is a tall order indeed. The Yorkshireman stepped in at the eleventh hour to replace Liam Smith against Josh Kelly back in September, but in truth, this is a different level altogether against a genuine world-class fighter in Bohachuk.
I feel that Davis is tough and crafty enough to make Bohachuk work for his success, but I can only see this fight ending with Bohachuk as the victor, most likely by stoppage, somewhere in the mid-to-late rounds of the fight.
A win for Davis as a late-replacement would be truly life-changing and one of the best wins by a British fighter in recent years. Unfortunately, I find it very difficult to make a case for him and at 11/2, I feel his odds are reflective of that.
