Ever since Eubank Jr edged an enthralling first bout back in April, the expectancy has been that the two would run back their clash during the calendar year.

It was recently revealed by Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn that two dates in September and October were being explored, but it has now been confirmed that the showdown will in fact be staged in late September.

Esteemed boxing magazine The Ring are reporting that Alalshikh has confirmed plans for a co-promotional card on September 20, with Sela, Boxxer and Matchroom all overseeing the event.

An original date of September 27 was previously floated, however, given Tottenham Hotspur are due to play Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League on that date, it means the fight will now take place a week earlier.

Whilst no official announcement has been made regarding the venue, it's expected that Spurs' home will once again play host to the second staging of Eubank Jr vs Benn, especially given the fact that the confirmed date coincides with Thomas Frank's men playing on the road at Brighton & Hove Albion.

There is still the possibility of Wembley Stadium hosting the bill too, although the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is believed to remain the front-runner.

Speaking recently, Hearn said: "Spurs is contracted - it's a fantastic stadium and it worked extremely well the first time.

Obviously, it was sold out and this fight's even bigger, so you could possibly look at Wembley to increase the capacity, but that will be a decision for His Excellency and Ring Magazine to make the final call.

Eubank Jr reigned supreme by a unanimous decision in a true Fight of the Year contender on April 26, at the top of The Ring's maiden boxing card.

A three year build-up to the bout, which included failed drug tests, an egg-slap and the shock arrival of Chris Eubank Sr on fight night, served to further raise the stakes on what proved to be a blockbuster night for British boxing.

"I just think the second fight will be even better," Benn's promoter Hearn added.

"They're not going to change - they're going to come out from the first bell and just carry on like the 13th round.

"And when you see a fight like that, for me, the automatic thing to do is to do the rematch.

"The fight was always going to be two fights, but sometimes a fight's one-sided or it ends early and there isn't really the appetite for the rematch.

"I think here, now with Conor having that activity, which is something that was lacking from the first fight as well, we really fancy our chances.

"We know the weight's a disadvantage and that showed a little bit in the first fight, but fans can just expect a continuation of the 12th round and it'll be another toe-to-toe war."
