Sean Dyche: ‘I’d win more games’ than Ruben Amorim

Sean Dyche has claimed that he'd have won more games than Ruben Amorim had he been in charge of Manchester United this season.

Although he's not been in charge for a full campaign, only a Europa League final has prevented it from being a disastrous start to Amorim's Manchester United tenure, winning just 15 of his 38 games so far, with more than half of them coming in the Europe.

With Chelsea away and Aston Villa at home left to round off the Premier League season, there's every chance United finish 17th in the table. The Red Devils are currently 16th, one point above Europa League final opponents Tottenham with a significantly worse goal difference having beaten just three non-relegated teams under the Portuguese.

Amorim is being given the benefit of the doubt by most fans and pundits, who accept that the squad needs a significant overhaul, but former Everton boss Dyche believes he'd have made a better start than the former Sporting CP boss,

Speaking on Stick to Football, when put to him that Amorim was going to stick to his principles, Dyche said: "You better win some games then, pretty quick.

"I reckon if I went there and played my way I’d win more games and I’m not just saying that. Just 4-4-2, give them basic rules and principles, there’s some good players there. You don’t have to over-teach everyone.

"I’d be interested more in the longer run, if he can stick to his principles and then next season we’re all going ‘hey, fair play’. At the minute I think he’s getting a fair roll of the dice because people are going ‘ah, the players’ and all that, but he’s been there a while now so he better start bringing some wins soon."

Dyche's managerial career has seen him take charge of Watford, Burnley and Everton, but the 53-year-old said his dream job was always Manchester United.

"Always, always, Manchester United was the job that I say because of the size of the club," said Dyche. "The sheer grandeur of it, particularly back then. The worldwide feel of it, I always thought ‘that’s a big, big super-powered club'."
