Harness Racing: Savvy Bromac to make draw count

Star reinswoman Emily Suvaljko says Savvy Bromac can take advantage of a rare favourable barrier draw to turn the tables on stablemate Born To Boogie on Friday night.

They will clash in the $50,000 WASBA Breeders Stakes at Gloucester Park and Suvaljko is in a bullish mood after her charge landed the prized No.1 barrier. Such a draw will be a massive advantage and Suvaljko will be out to make it count.

Revenge mission

Last Friday week it was Born To Boogie that came out on top. Beating Bettor Get It On and Savvy Bromac when jumping from barrier three.

But in this latest assignment, Born To Boogie has been drawn out wide in gate seven and has work to do.

Savvy Bromac also has to end a losing sequence of seven, but Suvaljko believes this could be the race to do it after landing the perfect draw.

Suvaljko confident

“She has been struggling from bad barriers,” Suvaljko said ahead of the race. “She has drawn the No. 1 barrier only once (from 25 starts at Gloucester Park) and that was when she led and wasn’t pressured and won the Mares Classic.

“Two starts after that Savvy Bromac set the pace and was pressured by Balcatherine, and we got the upper hand (beating Balcatherine by a half-head at a 1.54.3 rate over 2130m).

“All the intentions on Friday night will be to lead, and I’d say Nevermindthechaos (to be driven by Gary Hall jnr from barrier three) will be putting a bit of pressure on.”
