5.30 Chelmsford - Mc'Ted @ 14/1

The It's Never Ordinary At bet365 Apprentice Handicap (5.30) kicks things off at Chelmsford and it looks significant that MC'TED is returning to the Essex track on his second start back.

The six-year-old has recorded three of his seven highest Racing Post Ratings over course and distance and is now running off a mark 6lb lower than when last at the track in April last year.

He is evidently well handicapped if he can recapture his best at his favourite venue and Mc'Ted can be forgiven a disappointing run on his return at Wolverhampton last month.

He was beaten more than 10 lengths and only one horse finished behind him, but that was his first outing since June last year and he shaped better than his finishing position. He was keeping on from the back when running into trouble in the straight, costing him any chance.

A 2lb drop in the weights gives him a chance here and regular rider Alice Bond takes 7lb off.

Graeme Rodway's tip:

Mc'Ted @ 14/1 - 1pt win

7.00 Chelmsford - Alafdhal @ 5/2

The bet365 6 Horses Challenge Handicap (7.00) could go to the in-form ALAFDHAL, who comes here in superb form and is still well handicapped judging on the pick of his runs.

The six-year-old is able to race off a mark 6lb lower than when successful at Wolverhampton last year and he appears to be thriving on racing, as he followed his win at Kempton last month with a close third over course and distance just a day later. That was off this mark.

Alafdhal has two entries in two days again now as he is due to run at Newcastle on Friday night before coming here, but he evidently has no problem showing his form on consecutive days and it seems fair to assume that trainer Phil McEntee will let him take his chance in this.

He has a good draw in stall four and should be hard to beat if reproducing his recent form.

Graeme Rodway's tip:

Alafdhal @ 5/2 - 1pt win

8.30 Chelmsford - Golden Passport @ 8/1

The bet365 Bet Boost Handicap (8.30) brings the curtain down on the card and GOLDEN PASSPORT appears to have a strong chance of winning now that he is dropped back in class.

The four-year-old has beaten only four horses on his last two starts, but one of those runs came in a Class 4 handicap at Southwell and last time he contested a 0-72 at this course.

This is only a 0-68 Class 5 and he kept on nicely over 6f in that handicap at this track last time, giving a hint that he might be capable of better when granted a stiffer test of stamina.

Golden Passport steps back up to 7f here and his sole win came over this distance at Wolverhampton. He has also recorded all three of his highest RPRs over 7f or a mile and there is every chance he can cash in on a career-low mark now that he is returned to further.

Graeme Rodway's tip:

Golden Passport @ 8/1 - 1pt win
