Everything you need to know as WBO welterweight title-holder Sandy Ryan puts her belt on the line against two-weight world champion Terri Harper on the undercard of Dalton Smith v Jose Zepeda.
The contest will take place on Saturday 23rd March, on the same bill as Dalton Smith v Jose Zepeda.
The bout has been pencilled in for around 21:30 (GMT), and will provide chief support to the main event between Smith and Zepeda which is scheduled to get underway around an hour later.
The 21:30 fight time however, is subject to the length of the undercard bouts scheduled to take place earlier in the night.
The world title showdown will take place in Sheffield at the Utilita Arena.
The venue has played host to a large number of fights over the years including numerous bouts in the professional career of home-city favourite Kell Brook.
Utilita Arena is also the home of the Sheffield Steelers, who compete in the British Ice Hockey League, whilst the venue also hosts live music events.
Title-holder Sandy Ryan is the 4/9 pre-fight favourite with Sheffield hero Harper 7/4 to add another title to her collection in her home city.
With the bout forming part of the undercard of Dalton Smith v Jose Zepeda, the dust-up will be streamed live on DAZN to customers in the UK.
Ryan's WBO featherweight title will be on the line in Sheffield as the English fighter makes the second defence of her prized 147lbs title.
6-1-1 (2 KOs)
Sandy Ryan has only had eight professional fights to date, but my word, she's more than made her mark on the professional fighting game.
A relative latecomer to the professional scene at the age of 28, Ryan always appeared destined to become a world champion - a feat she went on to achieve in just her seventh pro fight!
A lopsided points success over Marie Pier House fulfilled her goal of becoming a world champion, before she stepped up a class in her first defence when she shared the ring with pound-for-pound star Jessica McCaskill.
Whilst she was unable to unify titles in the welterweight division, she remained unbeaten with the judges all scoring the September 2023 bout differently.
A 97-93 card in favour of McCaskill was countered by a 94-96 success for Ryan, with the third judge scoring the bout a 95-95 draw; ensuring both fighters retained their titles and remained world champions.
The Derby-born fighter will be hoping she comes through her forthcoming showdown with Harper with her belt-in-tow, too.
14-2-1 (6 KOs)
Terri Harper will be hoping to become one of only a select number of fighters to have captured world titles in three different weight classes when she returns to action in March.
The popular Sheffield fighter is the current WBA and IBO super-welterweight title holder, having previously held the WBC and IBO super-featherweight straps prior to her defeat to Alycia Baumgardner in 2001.
That devastating defeat at the same arena she will take to when she tackles Ryan on 23rd March remains the one and only loss on her professional record; although one that does also include a couple of controversial draws too.
Many had expected Natasha Jonas to get the decision when the pair fought out a classic lockdown contest at the height of Covid-19, only for the judges to score the bout a draw, before history repeated itself in Harper's last outing against Cecilia Braekhus in October 2023.
The odds suggest this will be the biggest challenge of Harper's career to date, against a fearsome opponent, but she will be hoping she can once again rise to the challenge and make further boxing history by landing a world title in a third weight division.
