Salisbury and Clonmel Horse Racing Tips for Thursday

Thursday's racing action from the UK includes a seven-race card from Salisbury, while the sole Irish meeting comes from Clonmel.

Here are the latest horse racing betting tips for Thursday’s racing from Racing Post tipster Robbie Wilders.

16:45 Clonmel - Stariam @

15:50 Salisbury - Tabiti @ 7/4

I fancied Tabiti for the Prestige Fillies’ Stakes at Goodwood recently, but she was ruled out due to a going change and I see no reason to ditch her in Salisbury’s Dick Poole Fillies’ Stakes (15:50) with Ryan Moore aboard and quick ground set to prevail.

The Ralph Beckett-trained filly created a good impression on her debut in a traditionally good maiden at Newmarket last month, recording a good Topspeed figure and doing it the hard way from the front by making all.

There’s little reason to worry about this drop back to 6f for this daughter of Kingman, and she will take some stopping with the prospect of significant improvement to come.

16:25 Salisbury - American Arrow @ 10/3

It is also easy to be drawn to American Arrow in the 6f fillies’ handicap that follows at Salisbury (16:25).

Ed Walker clearly thinks plenty of American Arrow as he gave her an entry in the Group 1 Sun Chariot Stakes in October, but she won’t be staying a mile until she learns to settle.

An impressive winner on her debut over 7f at Haydock, American Arrow was eye-catchingly strong in the betting when upped in trip for the Dick Hern Stakes next time but weakened out of things after racing too keenly on the front end.

Dropping to sprinting distances is just what the doctor ordered and she’s almost certain to be better than a mark of 82.

The daughter of American Pharoah can take this before returning to Pattern level.

16:45 Clonmel - Stariam @ SP

Over at Clonmel, Stariam is worth playing for Jessica Harrington in the 1m1½f maiden (16:45).

It is a slight worry that Stariam has been second on her last four starts, but this is the weakest race she has contested and she had no chance against subsequent Ebor winner Magical Zoe off level weights at Down Royal two starts back.

On her previous outing she bumped into another good hurdler in Surprise Package, who bolted up in the Imperial Cup in 2022.

Stariam was outstayed by these National Hunt types and taking a drop in trip is of little concern given she chased home an odds-on favourite when a gallant second over this course and distance a year ago.

With a nice draw in stall one, this front-runner will be tough to peg back in her first-time cheekpieces.
