Salford City will be gunning for revenge when they play host to Port Vale in their opening EFL Trophy encounter at the Peninsula Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Karl Robinson's side slipped to a 2-0 home defeat against the Valiants in their 2024/25 League Two curtain-raiser last weekend, before succumbing to an EFL Cup loss to Doncaster Rovers.
They did manage to capture their first point of the term on the road at Bradford City last time out however, and will now be keen to build upon that against Darren Moore's promotion hopefuls.
Vale followed up their triumph in Salford with a point against Tranmere Rovers last time out, but do have a blemish on their record this season having been knocked out of the EFL Cup by Barrow.
Salford City v Port Vale will be broadcast on Sky Sports+ in the UK.
Salford City v Port Vale has a 19:00 (BST) start time on Tuesday 20th August and is being played at the Peninsula Stadium, Salford.
Salford City hold a narrow advantage in head-to-head meetings against Port Vale having won four of the nine previous encounters, although the Valiants did win the last meeting earlier this month 2-0.
Interestingly, the previous five fixtures between the two sides ended 1-0 with Salford coming out on top on three of those occasions.
Just 14 goals have been scored in the nine matches to date, so don't expect a goal-fest at the Peninsula Stadium, especially given the fact that Salford have yet to net in any of their three games this season.
