Salford City target League One striker in shock move

Salford City are reportedly considering a move to sign Notts County striker Alassana Jatta.

The Gambian striker scored the opening goal for Notts County as they defeated Salford City 3-0 in last month's League Two play-off final.

While Jatta and Notts County are now preparing for life in League One, Salford will have to go again in League Two after their no-show at Wembley.

The play-off final defeat signalled the end of Karl Robinson's tenure at the club and Salford are now looking to hire a new manager to lead the club to promotion.

Journalist Alan Nixon has reported that Salford are already looking to strengthen their squad before pre-season, with Jatta featuring high on the list.

League One

A move to Salford would certainly raise eyebrows and Magpies supporters will be hoping that their star man will be part of the team's League One campaign next season.

Jatta has been a fans favourite at Meadow Lane since arriving in the East Midlands from Danish side Viborg in February 2024.

He scored five goals in 10 matches for Notts County during the remainder of the 2023/24 season before following up with 19 goals in the following campaign.

After spearheading the club to promotion last season with another 14 league goals, it is likely that a sizeable fee would be required to prize him away.

However, if the Ammies are able to secure a deal, it would certainly be a statement of intent to the other teams vying for promotion in League Two.
