Ryan Garcia v Rolando Romero will collide in May, 2025, with the bout, which is being staged by Turki Alalshikh's Ring Magazine, due to have its official date confirmed imminently.
Ryan Garcia v Rolando Romero tops the bill of a stacked card in the Big Apple, with Devin Haney v Jose Carlos Ramirez and Martin Bakole v Efe Ajagba also pencilled in to take place on the same evening.
It's expected that the Garcia v Romero dust-up will get underway at around 03:30 (GMT), although that will be dependent on the length of the undercard fights.
The full bill of action, including Ryan Garcia v Rolando Romero, is expected to take place in New York City, at Times Square, although official confirmation of this has yet to be made public.
No titles will be on the line for Ryan Garcia v Rolando Romero, but the winner will propel themselves up the rankings towards a potential world title showdown later this year.
Garcia was scheduled to tackle Devin Haney for the WBC super-lightweight strap last year, but failed to make the weight for that fight before the bout was declared a 'No Contest' after Garcia, who had prevailed on points, was found to have taken a banned substance in the build-up to the fight.
With Haney also featuring on the same card, should the pair prevail victorious then it could set up an intriguing rematch between them in the future.
Ryan Garcia was banned from professional boxing after testing positive for a banned substance following his clash with Devin Haney in April, 2024.
His one-year suspension comes to an end at the end of April this year, meaning he will be eligible to fight again from May, which is when his bout with Rolando Romero has been pencilled in for.
Garcia was rumoured to have been fighting Isaac Cruz on his return this spring, but a showdown between the two was unable to be agreed, meaning Garcia has, instead, turned his attentions to former super-lightweight champion of the world Rolando Romero.
