Sale Sharks visit Saracens in the Premiership on Saturday and both sides have something to play for on the final weekend of the regular season.
Sarries are already assured of a play-off place and Mark McCall’s side can secure a crucial home semi-final with victory - or as little as a point providing that Bath fail to beat league leaders Northampton Saints.
The Sharks are also firmly in contention for the play-offs, with Alex Sanderson’s men currently occupying fourth place, but a win will be of vital importance to the visitors as defeat would allow the likes of Exeter Chiefs, Harlequins or Bristol Bears to overhaul them.
Saracens handicap -11 points - 10/11
Saracens and Sale are the two most in-form sides over the last five matches, with both sides accruing 20 points over this spell and registering four wins and one defeat.
On paper, a nail-bitingly tight encounter could be in store in London.
However, Sarries have looked particularly strong at the StoneX stadium in recent weeks and this home advantage could see them claim victory on Sunday - which in turn would add an extra home fixture to this season’s calendar in the play-offs.
Sarries are on a six-game winning streak at home in all competitions and they have claimed these victories via impressive margins, winning each by a minimum of 15 points, along with thrashing play-off challengers Harlequins 52-7 in late March.
The Saracens attack has been particularly clinical at the StoneX, scoring 269 points across their last six home matches in all competitions - an average of just over 44 points per game.
Sarries have also scored 70 tries in the Premiership this season, just four fewer than leaders Northampton on 74, with winger Alex Lewington scoring nine of these.
Sale have lost each of their last four visits to Barnet Copthall, while the Sharks have also lost seven of their last eight on the road - their sole victory coming at Newcastle Falcons (35-14), who are yet to win a league match this season.
Two of their last four away matches have seen the Sharks lose by a margin greater than 11 points, while only Northampton and Bristol have scored more points than the Sarries over the last five Premiership matches.
Therefore, the hosts should have enough quality to win this battle by a healthy margin.
