Munster v Glasgow Warriors: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Saturday provides an intriguing contest in the United Rugby Championship semi-finals as Glasgow Warriors make the trip across the Irish Sea to face Munster at Thomond Park.

Munster on their own patch are always a formidable opponent and have been for many years, but Glasgow have enjoyed recent success in Limerick and will go there with hopes of causing an upset against the Red Army.

Munster v Glasgow Warriors betting tips and predictions

Glasgow Warriors +8 handicap - Evs

Having won 38-25 on their last visit to Thomond Park back in March, Glasgow know what it takes to win in Limerick and head back to Lanarkshire with smiles on their faces.

The Warriors had nine Scotland internationals in their starting line-up that day and they will need those big names to step up again if they are to push Munster all the way this weekend.

Their previous win in Limerick came back in 2014, just showing how difficult it is to come away from Thomond Park with the spoils.

Glasgow impressed last week at Scotstoun as they dispatched a strong Stormers side to win 27-10 in the quarter-finals.

Leading 6-0 at the break thanks to the boot of Scotland scrum-half George Horne, Glasgow stepped on the gas in the second half with three tries to help secure a memorable victory over the South African outfit.

The Warriors have shown they can mix it with some of the best in the United Rugby Championship and the +8 handicap available on Saturday looks to be generous for head coach Franco Smith and his side.

Munster 1st half winning margin 1-8 points - 15/8

Munster also impressed in their quarter-finals as they earned a 23-7 win over the Ospreys at Thomond Park.

Coming out of the blocks quickly thanks to a second-minute try from veteran winger Simon Zebo, Munster were impressive from the off.

In what is expected to be a tight contest in Limerick against the Warriors, there is value to be had with Munster edging the lead at the half-time whistle.

There’s 15/8 on offer for the hosts to be leading by a margin of 1-8 points at the break and that would come as little surprise in this one.

A battle of the kickers is likely to dominate the first 40 minutes and a tight scoreline at half-time is expected here.

Team with highest scoring half - Glasgow Warriors - 15/8

Glasgow have shown this season that they are capable of scoring quickfire tries when they get their tails up.

If given a platform by their forwards, the likes of Horne and Tom Jordan in the half-backs can look to cause the Munster defence problems.

With a dynamic backline that includes Scotland centre pairing of Seone Tuipulotu and Huw Jones, the Warriors can be an attacking threat from all over the field.

Scoring quickfire tries as they did on their last visit to Thomond Park whe they took a 28-0 lead at half-time, certainly helps in the team with the highest scoring half market.

While Munster might edge things at the break, Glasgow could look to move the ball around in the second 40 to get themselves back into the contest.

With that in mind, Glasgow to have the highest scoring half is certainly worthy of consideration at a price of 15/8 on Saturday.
