Leicester Tigers v Northampton Saints Prediction, Tips and Bet Builder

The Prem's top-point scorers, Northampton, head to East Midlands rivals Leicester for a clash between two teams coming off contrasting Champions Cup weekends.

The Tigers went down 41-17 at Pau, but Geoff Parling has recalled some of his stars for this derby, with Solomone Kata, Jack van Poortvliet and Aaron Wainwright among five changes.

Northampton have not won at Welford Road since 2023 and have made nine alterations from last Sunday's 28-12 Champions Cup win over Cardiff.

Among them is a 150th appearance for lock Alex Coles, while Fin Smith starts at fly-half for the confident visitors, who could reverse the pair's recent history of the home side winning the last five head-to-heads.

Leicester Tigers v Northampton Saints Prediction

Best Bet: Alternative handicap 2-Way - Northampton -3.5 @ 11/10

Northampton may have a poor recent record at Welford Road and their only Prem defeat this season came away at Bristol, but they should still have too much for Leicester.

Their 156 points in their first three matches is 32 more than the next-best in the division, Gloucester, with 71 of those coming in the win over Bath on 10th October.

Leicester beat Gloucester in their last home match, but lost to Saracens in their opener at Welford Road and may not be able to repeat last season's top-four finish.

They lost their semi-final at Northampton 45-31, and the Saints secured their second title in three seasons.

The hosts on the day have won the last five meetings, but the refreshed visitors' ability to score points makes them a tempting proposition to push beyond the 1.5-point handicap on offer.

Alternative Bet: James Pater anytime tryscorer @ 7/4

James Pater is making the Northampton full-back spot his own and justifying the faith the club has placed in him after George Furbank's departure.

Pater scored his fifth try of the season in the win over Cardiff and is now eyeing his first score away from Franklin's Gardens.

Like Furbank, the 19-year-old is an elusive runner and can escape a Tigers' defence that has conceded an average of 30 points per Prem game.

Leicester Tigers v Northampton Saints Bet Builder Tip

  • George Hendy anytime tryscorer

  • Tommy Freeman anytime tryscorer

  • Adam Radwan anytime tryscorer

    Pays 29/4

George Hendy has got the nod ahead of Ollie Sleightholme as Northampton's left winger and earlier this week said he is "serious" about earning an England call-up ahead of Steve Borthwick's squad announcement on Sunday.

Hendy, who has three league tries, was another Saints player to score against Cardiff and also dotted down in his team's loss at Welford Road last season.

If he is to make the Red Rose reckoning, he may have to dislodge teammate Tommy Freeman, who has five league tries.

Freeman has played centre and full-back at times, but his club and international future seems set at right wing. He also scored a try in last term's away loss and went over in June's home play-off win over the Tigers.

Another England hopeful is Leicester's Adam Radwan who, despite still facing questions about his defence, has speed to burn.

Radwan started the season with Prem tries against Saracens and former club Newcastle and is another with added motivation ahead of Borthwick's announcement on Sunday evening.
