Gloucester v Leicester: Predictions, Tips and Odds

As a warm-up for a Super Saturday of Six Nations action, Friday night provides an intriguing clash as Gloucester and Leicester Tigers face off in the Premiership Rugby Cup final.

It looks set to be a great battle between these sides at Kingsholm, with the first piece of silverware of the season up for grabs.

Gloucester v Leicester

Gloucester v Leicester betting tips and predictions

Leicester -3.5 handicap - 6/5

Leicester have the luxury boost of having 2023 World Cup winner Handre Pollard at fly-half.

The Springbok stand-off has experience of winning the biggest final there is after success against the All Blacks in Paris last year.

Pollard’s ability to manage a game and also his outstanding kicking from hand and the tee could prove vital for Friday’s trip to Gloucester.

Tigers head coach Dan McKellar has further experience in the backline, with former England full-back Mike Brown and ex-Scotland centre Matt Scott also starting.

England prop Joe Heyes also being made available for this game is another massive boost for the Tigers in the scrum.

As for the Cherries & Whites, 23-year-old George Barton will go head-to-head with Pollard in the battle of the fly-haves in this final.

Barton has experience to turn to in the back division, but there will be plenty of responsibility on his shoulders to get Gloucester playing in the right areas of the field.

The last time these sides played each other in the Premiership was back in late November, with Leicester running out 38-20 winners at Kingsholm.

While Friday’s game should be closer, Leicester have the quality and the experience to fall on the right side of the -3.5 handicap on offer at 6/5.

Double Result - Leicester/Leicester - 13/10

Looking back at that last meeting between these sides, Leicester enjoyed a strong start at Kingsholm and will be looking for a repeat of that in this final.

The Tigers were ahead 14-6 at the break before pulling away to win by 18 points in the second-half against Gloucester.

It would be little surprise to see history repeat itself in that regard and Leicester are available at 13/10 to be leading at both the half-time and full-time whistles.

Ollie Hassell-Collins anytime tryscorer - 6/4

A player who bagged a brace of tries in that last Leicester win at Kingsholm, winger Ollie Hassell-Collins is great value to bag another try against the Cherry & Whites in the final.

The former London Irish star was unfortunate to be overlooked for the 2024 Six Nations squad and still has just one England cap to his name - the defeat to Scotland at Twickenham last year..

A player who can still make it at international level, with raw pace and excellent agility, Hassell-Collins is a nightmare for defenders.

Bagging that brace last time against Gloucester, the 25-year-old knows he has the ability to hurt the hosts in the wide channels.

Also look out for Pollard going to the corners with cross-field kicks for Hassell-Collins to get on the end of.

At 6/4, the Leicester flyer is good value to add to his tally of tries against Gloucester on Friday.
