Revenge might well be on the minds of many of the Gloucester players when they host Leicester Tigers in the Premiership on Saturday at Kingsholm.
Last meeting back in October near the start of the season, the Cherry & Whites squandered a nine-point lead at the break to eventually go on to lose the game 29-26 against the Tigers at Welford Road.
Back in the home comforts of Kingsholm, Gloucester will be hoping a packed house at their home ground can cheer them on to victory this weekend and help the Cherry & Whites leapfrog the Tigers into fourth spot.
Gloucester -4.5 handicap - 10/11
Gloucester have been one of the success stories in the Premiership so far this season, having gone from a side battling near the bottom of the table to one that has a real chance of making it to the play-offs this year.
Boss George Skivington deserves great credit for the turnaround at Kingsholm, with the Cherry & Whites back to playing an exciting brand of rugby that has been getting the home faithful off their feet.
Saturday provides an acid test to see how far Gloucester have come since that trip to Welford Road in October, as Leicester are another side firmly in the mix for the play-offs in Michael Cheika’s first season at the helm.
The Tigers have struggled on their travels of late, failing to win any of their last four games on the road in all competitions.
Few would have expected the Tigers to beat Toulouse on their own patch in the south of France last weekend but an 80-12 defeat was simply unacceptable from Leicester.
With the Tigers conceding a remarkable 195 points across those last four away games, look to Gloucester to not only win Saturday’s showdown in the West Country but fall on the right side of the handicap in the process.
Double Result - Gloucester/Gloucester - 1/1
All was looking good for the Cherry & Whites in their last game against the Tigers, with the visitors leading 19-8 at the break.
Just two minutes into the second half, however, Handre Pollard’s try triggered a comeback from the hosts, who ended up scoring 21 points in the second 40 minutes to claim the victory.
On their own patch at Kingsholm, Gloucester are more than capable of making a strong start and getting after this Leicester defence that was shambolic against Toulouse.
With that considered, the hosts to be leading at both the half-time and full-time whistle this weekend looks to be the way to go.
Max Llewellyn anytime tryscorer - 6/5
Max Llewellyn has been enjoying an excellent season for Gloucester and it’s astonishing the centre has not been included in Warren Gatland’s Wales squad ahead of the 2025 Six Nations.
Llewellyn is currently the joint-top tryscorer in the Premiership this season, touching down seven times for the Cherry & Whites in the league already this term.
The 6ft 5in and 16st 7lb giant centre is one of the last players this Leicester backline would want to come up against.
Llewellyn scored two tries in that last meeting between these sides at Welford Road and the former Cardiff star can add to his try collection on Saturday against the Tigers.
