Bulls v Leinster: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Having suffered semi-final heartbreak in the last two seasons, Leinster will be looking to secure a place back in the United Rugby Championship Grand Final when they take on the Bulls in Pretoria on Saturday.

The Irish province have bowed out in the semi-finals in the last two years, with defeats to the Bulls in 2021/22 and Munster in 2022/23.

Leinster will be determined to make amends at Loftus Versfeld this weekend and earn a place in the Grand Final to face either Munster or Glasgow Warriors on 22nd June.

Bulls v Leinster betting tips and predictions

Leinster -5 handicap - EVS

Having ran out 47-14 winners when these sides last met in March, Leinster know they are capable of putting this Bulls side to the sword.

Granted that game took place in Dublin and winning down in Pretoria at Loftus Versfeld will be a tougher challenge for boss Leo Cullen and his side.

However, this is a Leinster team packed with Ireland internationals, who know what it takes to go to some of the most difficult away venues in the world and get a result.

Many of these Leinster players featured in Ireland’s first Test series win in New Zealand in 2022 and Ireland have only gone from strength to strength since then.

Loftus Versfeld will be another intimidating atmosphere and the Bulls will undoubtedly be fired up to put on a performance and secure their place in the Grand Final.

However, Leinster have the quality, the power up front and the big-game temperament to come out on top in this one and fall on the right side of the -5 handicap on offer here.

Team to score first - Bulls - 10/11

As mentioned, this South African side, backed by the passionate home crowd in Pretoria, will look to smash into this Leinster side from the first whistle and get the visitors on the back foot.

Despite losing by 47-14 in that last meeting with Leinster in Dublin, it was the Bulls who took a six-point lead before the hosts got their first points in the 19th minute of the contest.

That means the Bulls have now scored the first points in the last two meetings between these two great teams.

On home soil and raring to go from the off to try and get under Leinster’s skin and make them think another heartbreaking semi-final defeat is on the cards, it would be little surprise to see the Bulls get the opening score.

Leinster to win both halves - 7/4

While the Bulls might be quick out of the blocks, very little seems to phase this Leinster side and they will know how to weather the early storm.

With a pack filled with Ireland stars, Leinster will look to go toe-to-toe in the set-piece and try to get the Bulls moving backwards at the breakdown.

Overall Leinster have the quality to get the win in Pretoria and in doing so they should be able to win both halves of rugby on Saturday.

Leinster were only just edged out in the first half of their last meeting against the Bulls, thanks to a 41st-minute penalty from Johan Goosen.

Having trailed 14-12 in that game at the break, Leinster blew away the Bulls in the second half, scoring 35 unanswered points.

While a victory for the Irish is unlikely to be as convincing in Pretoria, the visitors to score more points in both halves is worth considering at odds of 7/4 in this one.
