Racing Post's Alex Hilton previews the Super League ahead of the 27-round tournament getting under way and has come up with three ante-post selections.
Wigan Warriors are chasing a hat-trick of Super League titles and are looking to maintain their period of success which saw them win four trophies in 2024.
The Warriors completed a clean sweep of silverware last term but the challengers are lining up to end their era of domination.
Hull Kingston Rovers pushed Wigan all the way last season and only just came up short in the end of season Grand Final at Old Trafford.
Hull Kingston Rovers to win the Super League Grand Final - 11/2
The Super League trophy, the League Leaders' Shield, the Challenge Cup and the Club World Championship are all safely locked away in the Brick Community Stadium trophy cabinet and it is hard to see anything other than more glory for Wigan Warriors in the next eight months.
Matt Peet's side won the lot last term, losing just five matches along the way. Not even NRL champions Penrith Panthers could match the Cherry & Whites and they remain the team to beat in 2025, but one side who did get a win against the Warriors could be their biggest challengers again in the new campaign.
Hull Kingston Rovers finished just two points behind Wigan in the regular season, and things were almost as close when the pair met in the Grand Final at Old Trafford, where Wigan edged to a 9-2 win.
Experience and that extra touch of class got the job done for the Warriors but a renewed challenge from KR looks likely this term.
A formidable force on home soil, Rovers matched Wigan stride for stride and beat them at Craven Park 26-10 in round nine to announce themselves as genuine contenders for play-off success.
The Robins have recruited well in the off-season and arguably look stronger than they did 12 months ago, so armed with the experience of last year's astonishing achievements, they are fancied to produce some more heroics.
Whether they can topple the champions remains to be seen, but they look genuine contenders once again and a run to the Grand Final could again be in the offing.
Salford Red Devils top-six finish - 11/8
Another side who exceeded expectations last term were Salford Red Devils, who finished fourth after 27 rounds of the regular season, only running out of steam in their play-off eliminator with Leigh Leopards.
Most talk since has been about Salford's financial issues and their off-season has been plagued with uncertainty and the threat of losing key men to balance the books.
However, a takeover looks to have eased the situation and the Red Devils remain intact, with star head coach Paul Rowley and all of his key men still in situ at the Salford Stadium.
Some concerns around salary cap limitations remain but Salford still have a quality squad and they can make a play for the top six once again.
A repeat fourth-placed finish may be out of the question but they remain a value bet to prolong their season for second year running.
Castleford Tigers to finish bottom - 5/4
London Broncos were relegated from Super League last term but they only finished bottom from Hull FC on points with the hapless pair the only two sides worse than Castleford Tigers in 2024.
FC have strengthened their side in the off-season in a bid to avoid a repeat of their struggles but the Tigers have underwhelmed in their transfer dealings and they could justify favouritism to finish bottom of the pile.
Local rivals Wakefield have returned to Super League in London's place and they have spent big to ensure they stay among the elite.
Huddersfield look a touch vulnerable but should still be strong enough to avoid any danger so the Tigers are the pick to come in last.
New head coach Danny Maguire is already dealing with injury concerns and his threadbare squad were dumped out of the Challenge Cup last weekend by Championship side Bradford Bulls.
That looks a sign of things to come and the toothless Tigers could find themselves caged this term.
