St Helens vs Salford Tips, Predictions and Bet Builder

St Helens have hit a rich vein of form and they face beleaguered Salford Red Devils for a third time this term. Two hefty wins have gone St Helens' way in those meetings and the expectation is for another one-sided affair at the Totally Wicked Stadium in this latest clash.

St Helens vs Salford Prediction

Best Bet: St Helens to win by 36-40 points @ 11/2

St Helens made a slow start to the 2025 Super League campaign to such an extent that calls for the head of club legend and head coach Paul Wellens were starting to get louder as the Saints lost ground on the league leaders.

Sitting on the fringes of the play-off places is unacceptable for the ten-time Super League champions, but things are starting to look rosier for the Red Vee following a run of four wins from their last five matches.

One of those was a 46-4 cruise over Salford just a fortnight ago and the pair quickly reconvene for their third match-up of the campaign.

Off-the-field issues have plagued the Red Devils since the start of the season, and Paul Rowley was forced to name a reserve side for their round one clash with the Saints, which ended 82-0 to the Merseyside men.

Things have barely improved since then for Salford and they are bottom of the table following 14 losses in 15 outings, and that tally is likely to increase in this clash with Wellens' outfit.

There is little juice in the match markets, and there may be scope for backing Salford with a 48-point start on the handicap, but for a better profit, St Helens winning by 36-40 points looks the better way to go.

Salford have been handed plenty of pastings this term, but the average winning margin of their opponents in their 14 defeats is 37.4, while their last three losses have been by 32, 42 and 40 points.

There has been a hint that the Red Devils are starting to be more competitive and a similar scoreline to that of two weeks ago can be expected on Sunday.

Alex Hilton explains:

Saints are starting to go through the gears, and although this should be another comfortable victory for the Red Vee, the hot conditions suggest a more modest margin of victory this weekend.

St Helens vs Salford Bet Builder Tip

  • Harry Robertson to score a try

  • George Whitby to score a try

  • Tristan Sailor to score a try

  • Pays 5/2

There is little value in the match markets for this contest, and the handicap mark looks about right, so a trio of try scorers could be the way to go on Sunday, where George Whitby, Harry Robertson and Tristan Sailor are all fancied to get on the scoresheet at the Totally Wicked Stadium.

Sailor has bagged ten tries in the league for St Helens this season, while livewire back Robertson is close behind on eight. Whitby has a trio of tries so far, but he will be central to the action on Sunday and it would be no surprise if he increases his tryscoring tally by at least one.

Alex Hilton adds:

Saints can score from all over the park, so picking a selection of try scorers offers a better route to a profit in a match which the home side should dominate.

Tactics, Form and Team News

St Helens have been boosted by the return of George Whitby, who missed out last week due to a failed head injury assessment. Will Roberts has joined Widnes on loan, so he won't feature.

Saints remain without injured quarter Jack Welsby, Mark Percival, Joe Batchelor and James Bell.

St Helens predicted starting line-up: Sailor, Feldt, Robertson, Cross, Bennison, Lomax, Whitby, Walmsley, Clark, Lees, Sironen, Whitley, Knowles.
Interchange: Mbye, Paasi, Wingfield, Delaney.

Salford have signed Danny Richardson on a loan deal and are expected to send him straight into action while Jayden Nikorima and Ethan Ryan also make their returns.

Joe Bullock has dropped out of the squad, and Cain Robb has failed a head injury assessment. Joe Sherrocks misses out with a one-match suspension.

Salford predicted starting line-up: Brierley, Ryan, Hankinson, Marsters, Rugless, Nikorima, Richardson, Hill, Morgan, Ormondroyd, Foster, Russell, Hill.
Interchange: Sangare, Chan, Wilson, Yates.
