The Super League roadshow pitches up in Leeds on Saturday and Sunday for the competition's ever-popular Magic Weekend and Racing Post’s Alex Hilton expects the leading playoff contenders to flex their muscles at the showpiece occasion.
The opening match of the weekend will have little consequence as to where the trophies will be dished out this year, with bottom two sides London Broncos and Hull FC facing off.
But that dead rubber will then be followed by the match of the round as reigning champions Wigan Warriors take on bitter rivals St Helens in a juicy derby dust-up.
Warrington Wolves versus Leeds Rhinos will bring the curtain down on the opening day, but the action will quickly resume on Sunday when Leigh Leopards take on Salford Red Devils in the opening clash.
Play-off chasing pair Catalans Dragons and Hull Kingston Rovers square off in the game of the day on Sunday before a thrilling climax to the weekend sees Huddersfield Giants lock horns with Yorkshire rivals Castleford Tigers, and Alex Hilton has the best bets for each encounter.
London Broncos +8 - 11/10
Hull FC are warm favourites for this contest but it is hard to have much faith in the beleaguered Black & Whites.
Injuries have hit hard and they have won just three matches this season. One of those was against bottom side London but it was far from easy and the Broncos got their revenge with a stunning 34-18 win in May.
Hull have lost four of their last five matches, shipping over 40 points in their last two outings, so London look a decent bet with a chunky start.
Under 38.5 points - 1/1
The standout match of the weekend should be a belter, but these derby tussles are often tight affairs and going under 38 points looks a decent bet on Saturday.
Three of the last four meetings have done so and it was 16-12 to Wigan when these two met last month.
Saints have fallen off the pace following a recent slump and keeping things tight may be their best chance of taking something out of the contest.
Warrington Wolves -6 - 10/11
The final match on Saturday should see a comfortable win for Warrington Wolves, who can cover a skinny-looking handicap.
The Wolves have won six of their last seven matches, including stunning victories over Wigan and St Helens, and they have also had the better of things in recent matches with Leeds.
Warrington have won both meetings with the Rhinos in 2024 by margins of 12 and 26 points, so a win by seven points or more looks well within the compass of Sam Burgess's in-form outfit.
Salford Red Devils +4 - 1/1
A battle between two in-form sides kicks off the action on Sunday and this tussle could swing either way.
Salford are clinging on to a play-off place but they are under threat from several sides with fast-finishing Leigh one of those teams.
The Red Devils have won two of their last three matches and were beaten by St Helens last week only on golden point.
Leigh have won five of their last six, beating Saints along the way and this could be a tight encounter, so backing Salford with the handicap start looks a solid option.
Catalans Dragons +8 - 1/1
Sunday's showpiece fixture sees top-of-the-table Hull Kingston Rovers take on play-off chasing Catalans Dragons in another mouth-watering encounter.
The Robins are flying high following a run of nine wins from their last 10 matches, but the only side to beat them in that sequence were the Dragons, who came out on top in a 15-14 triumph.
Catalans are something of a bogey side for KR and although recent results have been patchy, the French side look the bet with an eight-point start.
Each of their last four matches have been settled by that margin or less and they have won 11 of their last 12 meetings with the Robins so can be backed with a degree of confidence in this crucial contest.
Huddersfield Giants -6 - 10/11
The final match of Magic Weekend sees two sides playing for little more than pride with the end-of-season play-offs looking out of reach.
Huddersfield Giants are favourites to come out on top and that looks a sound assessment despite their patchy form that has seen them lose four of their last five matches.
However, they have won their last five games against the Tigers, including a 50-8 drubbing in March.
Cas have lost their last three fixtures so back the Giants to win with a degree of comfort once again.
