Leeds Rhinos v St Helens: Prediction, Tips and Odds

All 12 Super League teams enter the Challenge Cup in the sixth round this weekend and many of them are in with a shout of reaching Wembley.

Some cracking ties have already taken place across the UK, but on Friday it doesn't get any bigger as Super League giants Leeds Rhinos and St Helens meet at Headingley.

Friday's match is a repeat of last week's clash in Super League, which Paul Wellens' men won 18-8 in West Yorkshire.

Leeds Rhinos v St Helens betting tips and predictions

St Helens to win - 1/2

Two teams who are synonymous with Challenge Cup success meet at Headingley on Friday, but Leeds might be sick of the sight of St Helens by full-time.

Saints responded from their first defeat of the season, a 24-20 loss to Salford Red Devils, by beating Leeds in Super League last week.

In one of the games of the campaign so far, St Helens managed to hold off a fired-up Rhinos and secure yet another win at Headingley.

The Merseyside club have now won six straight games at Headingley and they will likely add to that this week.

Not only did St Helens have to ride it out in a bruising game, they were without Tommy Makinson, who was a late withdrawal due to a hamstring injury.

If Saints can overcome Leeds without their star winger on short notice, they have now had more time to build a gameplan to suit them, with Makinson once again set to watch on from the sidelines.

St Helens winning margin 1-10 - 7/4

It is never ideal to play the same fixture twice within a week, but St Helens know precisely what it takes to get the better of Rohan Smith's troops.

St Helens have won 15 of the last 16 meetings between the two clubs and Leeds last beat their rivals at home in August 2017.

While Saints have been a pillar of consistency in recent years, Leeds have struggled to reach the same heights that they did in previous decades and their new-look squad, after a frantic off-season in the transfer market, is still finding its feet.

Leeds have won three of their opening five Super League fixtures, but they have often played without direction in some of those victories, before a flurry of tries got the job done.

Against a quality outfit like Saints, Leeds will not be allowed time to settle, and they failed to get the job done last week despite a solid first-half display.

While an away win is expected, Saints may not run away with it.

Their 10-point success last week was their biggest over Leeds since September 2022 and it would be a surprise to see Wellens' men rack up the points, especially in a game that means so much to both clubs.

Leeds are searching for their 15th Challenge Cup crown and first since 2020 and there is little chance of the Rhinos squad giving in with a home crowd cheering them on.

Ash Handley to score anytime - 13/8

Leeds added some flair and creativity to their squad over the winter and, with two new half-backs and a new full-back, they could be a team to watch in the closing stages of the season.

Partnerships taking time to build and nurture, but Ash Handley has not needed any time to find his stride this season.

The Rhinos winger has already scored seven tries in five Super League appearances and his explosive power and support play is difficult to stop.

Leeds' new-look team have leaned on Handley heavily and he has scored two tries in his last four against St Helens.
