Hull KR v Warrington Wolves: Tips, Predictions and Odds

An enthralling contest can be expected at Craven Park on Thursday as Hull KR host a Warrington Wolves side in a contest which could swing either way.

Both sides have won two of their opening three fixtures of the 2024 Super League campaign and they each look well set to challenge for a place in the post-season play-offs.

KR are warm 8/15 favourites to win this contest but there may be some juice in backing the away side at 6/4 in what should be a cracking encounter.

Hull KR v Warrington Wolves betting predictions

Warrington Wolves to win – 6/4

Warrington Wolves have won on four of their last six visits to Hull KR, and the Wire look a decent bet to improve that sequence on Thursday.

The Wolves look determined to improve on their 2023 campaign which saw them scrape into the play-offs only to be knocked out in the first eliminator by St Helens.

They have certainly started the season in a relatively positive manner, hammering Hull FC and Castleford Tigers following an opening-round loss at Catalans Dragons.

New head coach Sam Burgess looks to have injected more urgency into Warrington's play and it has paid off with 66 points scored in their last two outings.

However, the Tigers and FC are two of the weaker sides in the competition and Hull KR will be a tougher nut to crack this week, although there are signs that they may not be quite as strong as last season, when they finished fourth in the regular season and reached the Challenge Cup final.

KR thumped city rivals Hull FC 22-0 in round one this season, but have followed it with an edgy home win over Leeds and a disappointing loss to Salford last week, and those results show enough to suggest KR are vulnerable favourites on Thursday.

You take on the Robins at your peril when they are on home soil, but the 6/4 about Warrington just looks too big to ignore at a venue where they have had plenty of recent success.

The Wolves ran out 18-10 winners when they last pitched up in East Hull 12 months ago and a similar outcome could be on the cards when they lock horns again this week.

Warrington look to have got into their stride slightly quicker than the Robins but it is hard to see them running away with it, and a narrow margin of success looks the most likely.

An away win by no more than 12 points at 12/5 looks a decent bet to have, while the Wire with a four-point start at 4/5 also looks a touch of value.

However, the best way to play it may be backing a Warrington win at 6/4 as this match may swing either way.

Under 36.5 total match points – 4/5

Warrington have found points easy to come by in the last two rounds, but Castleford and Hull FC don't look to be at the same level as that of Hull KR, so the Wolves could find scoring much harder this week.

They managed just 10 against Catalans Dragons in their opening-round loss and they haven't scored more than 18 in any of their last three visits to Craven Park.

Defences could dominate in this fixture with KR conceding points at an average of just under 10 per match this season, while the Wolves are shipping at a rate of just over 10 points per game.

This fixture could be a proper arm wrestle, so the 4/5 that there are no more than 36 points scored at Craven Park this week could yield a decent profit.

Only one of Warrington's last three visits has seen a points total higher than that mark, and with drizzle forecast for later on in this fixture, scoring may become trickier as the contest wears on, so backing a lower total looks a sensible play for this intriguing encounter.
