Hull KR v Salford Red Devils: Prediction, Tips and Odds

After reaching last year's Challenge Cup final at Wembley, Hull KR will be eager to return to the capital, and their first assignment in this year's competition is a home clash with Salford Red Devils.

All 12 Super League teams have entered the sixth round of the competition this weekend, and Friday's tie between Hull KR and Salford may be a close battle, as both sides have won three of their first five Super League matches.

Hull KR v Salford Red Devils betting tips and predictions

Salford +4.5 - 10/11

Friday's meeting at Craven Park promises to be a cracker between the Robins and Red Devils as the two teams meet for the second time this month.

There has been very little to split the two teams in Super League so far, with the Robins scoring 98 points this season, just three more than the Red Devils. Willie Peters' team do have a superior defence, though, and it is their impressive points difference that means they are two places above Salford in the table.

Hull KR's fans got to experience the Challenge Cup final at Wembley last year, but Peters' men could not get over the line, losing 17-16 to the Leigh Leopards.

Some ambitious fans will back their team to make a second successive final, but this fixture appears to be coming at the wrong time for the Robins.

Revenge may be on the minds of both sides on Friday as Hull KR try to bounce back from a 17-10 defeat to Salford at the start of March.

Salford's dream of reaching last year's Challenge Cup final was spoiled by their hosts, as they lost 28-10 in the quarter-finals, so it is fair to say there's plenty riding on Friday's encounter.

Hull KR are without half-back Mikey Lewis after he failed a HIA, while George King misses out with a hamstring injury. Both of those players suffered injuries in their 24-12 success over Huddersfield Giants, but Louis Senior does come back into the 21-man squad.

Salford, meanwhile, will welcome back Cade Cust, Ollie Partington and Joe Mellor, and they should be able to cause tonnes of problems and cover the handicap.

Under 40.5 points - 5/6

Hull KR come into the game as the favourites for victory, but their injury problems should make this game a more even battle.

Salford's last win on the road at Craven Park came in February 2019, but without Lewis in Hull KR's lineup, they may lack that burst of energy and creativity.

Only 27 points were scored in the first meeting between the two in March, while only 12 were scored in the previous encounter at Craven Park last year.

Only one of the last five meetings have contained more than 40 points, and with injuries affecting the home team, it is difficult to see this game being one for the neutral.

Peters' side have been involved in some close battles of late, with none of their previous four games settled by a margin of more than 12 ponts.

Peta Hiku to score anytime - 5/2

Peters mixed things up last week with his backs, and his team rewarded him as they ended their two-game losing streak by beating Huddersfield.

The Australian had pushed Hiku into full-back at the start of the year, but he reverted back to his usual centre spot, and he rewarded his team immediately.

Hiku crossed twice against the Giants to help them secure the victory, and he now has four tries to his name this season.

Peters has said Hiku will stay in the centres going forward, and that should bring the best out of him as he tries to silence his critics.

Salford have already been unable to stop Hiku scoring against them this season, and he will be tough to stop this time around as well.
