Two teams hoping to be playing in the play-offs meet in Super League on Saturday, as Catalans Dragons host Wigan Warriors at Stade Gilbert Brutus.
Wigan are level on points with Hull Kingston Rovers at the top of the table and, while their rivals can move clear of them on Friday, the Cherry and Whites will not be panicking as they try to draw level at the earliest opportunity.
Trips to Perpignan have been a nuisance for teams in the past in the difficult conditions, but the Dragons are clinging on to the sixth and final play-off spot after a tough few weeks.
Wigan Warriors -6.5 - 10/11
The end of August marks the business end of the Super League season and time is running out for teams if they want to stake a claim for the play-offs.
Thankfully for Wigan, they are one of three teams who look like they can win the League Leaders' Shield.
Matty Peet's side finished top of the pile last season and their superior points difference helped them lift the trophy after a three-way tie with Catalans and St Helens.
While Wigan are back where they belong, Catalans are nervously looking over their shoulders at the chasing pack.
Seventh-placed Leigh Leopards and eighth-placed Leeds Rhinos are waiting and ready to pounce, with Leeds' 18-6 win over Catalans hekping them pile on the pressure.
Catalans have now lost two games on the spin, failing to score more than six points in either of those defeats, to Leeds and Hull KR.
Wigan have been immense in defence of late, conceding four points in two weeks during wins over St Helens and Hull FC.
The Cherry and Whites usually reach their best form at this stage of the campaign, and this season looks to be following the same pattern.
Over 36.5 points - 1/1
Wigan have ran out winners in their last three games against Catalans, including last season's Grand Final success at Old Trafford.
That 10-2 win was a huge effort on the big stage, but it was only the second time in six meetings that the teams did not rack up the points.
This week's line is set at 36.5 points, which was covered in the last meeting in May and in three of the previous six encounters.
Wigan won 34-0 on their last trip to Perpignan in August 2023, and both teams need to win, so there's every chance we witness a high-scoring game, and history shows it often occurs.
Jai Field to score anytime - 15/8
Several injuries have prevented Wigan ace Field from producing his best rugby, but he is slowly finding some consistency after a recent spell on the sidelines.
The Australian scored 16 tries last season when he stayed fit and he is one of the first names on Wigan's teamsheet when available.
Thankfully for Peet, Bevan French also returns this week and that should take the spotlight off Field.
Field usually comes alive in the summer months thanks to his elusiveness and acceleration and the weather conditions should suit the Aussie down to the ground this weekend.
With French back in the squad, Wigan now have their best two playmakers on the pitch and it is feasible that both cross for a try this weekend.
