Castleford Tigers vs Wigan Warriors Tips, Predictions and Bet Builder

Reigning Super League champions Wigan Warriors will look to make a statement when they travel to The Mend-A-Hose Jungle to take on the Castleford Tigers in Super League.

The Warriors were stunned on the road last week as they fell to a 16-10 defeat to Wakefield Trinity.

That defeat and Hull KR's 34-10 success over Wakefield on Friday means the Warriors are now six points behind the Robins in the race for the Super League League Leaders' Shield.

Castleford have improved in recent weeks, but the Tigers have still only won four of their 15 games and are 10th in the table ahead of kick-off.

Castleford Tigers vs Wigan Warriors Prediction

Best Bet: Wigan Warriors -18.5 @ 1/1

Wigan will be eager to bounce back just a week after they suffered a surprise defeat to Wakefield and while Castleford have been improving under coach Danny McGuire, they have won just two of their last five and were hammered 48-0 by Hull KR last week.

The Cherry and Whites are better in all departments and, although the hosts will show plenty of heart and effort, they will struggle to stop Wigan's free-flowing attack over 80 minutes.

Tom Hill explains:

Wigan have only lost one of their last games and coach Matty Peet believes his team will increase their intensity after their defeat to Wakefield. Warriors have a tremendous record against the Tigers and that should only improve here.

With Wigan expected to win Saturday's contest in West Yorkshire, it makes sense that they are heavily involved in our Bet Builder.

Wigan winger Liam Marshall has shaken off an injury to make Saturday's squad and he will look to add to his eight tries this season.

While that is a low tally for a man of his standards, Marshall has scored tries in each of Wigan's last four games against the Tigers.

Team-mate Jai Field has scored 17 tries this season, meaning he is the top scorer in Super League, while he has also grabbed 11 assists.

With Bevan French set to sit out Saturday's game, Wigan will rely heavily on Field and his recent form should help him win the Player of the Match award.

Wigan have scored 474 points this season, and they need to make a statement this weekend. Castleford conceded 48 points last week against Hull KR, and Wigan may have similar success.

The Tigers have shown plenty of fight and courage, so they may score one or two tries in what should be an entertaining game.

Tom Hill adds:

Cas have been outclassed when they have played the best teams in the league and Wigan are certainly one of them. The Cherry and Whites have some classy players and they will stand up and deliver.
