Castleford Tigers v Wigan Warriors: Prediction, Tips and Odds

After winning the Challenge Cup at Wembley last week, Wigan Warriors will expect to build on that heroic performance when they return to Super League duties against Castleford Tigers.

The Cherry and Whites battled hard at the national stadium to win 18-8 against Warrington Wolves, but they have had very little time to celebrate their success.

Castleford come into the game on the back of a 32-4 defeat to Leeds Rhinos, and it could be another long night at the office for Craig Lingard's men.

Castleford Tigers v Warrington Wolves betting tips and predictions

Wigan Warriors -12.5 - 10/11

Wigan fans must be loving every second of Matty Peet's tenure, with the club now holding all four major honours.

They won the League Leaders' Shield and the Grand Final last year before they then beat the Penrith Panthers to win the World Club Challenge. Last weekend's Challenge Cup success was the icing on the cake for the club's fans, but Peet will not allow his team to rest on their laurels.

Wigan are level on points with St Helens ahead of kick-off, but Paul Wellens' side do not play until Sunday when they face London Broncos.

Peet's side beat Warrington 19-18 in Super League two weeks ago, which means they are in pole position to move to the top of the pile once they play their game in hand against Leigh Leopards.

They have scored 357 points this season, the most in Super League, while they have already covered the -12.5 handicap when beating Castleford 36-14 in April at the DW Stadium.

With Cas offering little against Leeds, this should be a comfortable win for the reigning Super League champions.

Wigan to win both halves - Yes - 10/11

Wigan would be excused for making a slow start on Friday, especially after last week's heroics at Wembley.

The Cherry and Whites were clinical when they created chances, but they gave little away, even against Sam Burgess' side that have impressed in attack all season.

Castleford have only scored 218 points this season, the third-lowest in the league, while they have lost their last ten meetings to Wigan.

Wigan should start fast with authority, and they could be out of sight before the hooter sounds for half-time.

Bevan French to score anytime - 4/5

Peet has confirmed that Jai Field will not play any part in Friday's game, as he has been replaced by Jack Farrimond.

Field will be a big miss, but the likes of Abbas Miski, Liam Marshall, Harry Smith, and Bevan French will all feature.

French put in a man-of-the-match display at Wembley last week, scoring one try, while he created several other opportunities.

The Australian has an incredible record against Castleford, scoring a try in the last four meetings between the two clubs.

French is a master at finding space and causing problems, and he faces a Castleford side that are without the experienced duo of Paul McShane and Joe Westerman.

While Samy Kibula and Matty English will do their best on Friday, they will not be able to fill the void of McShane and Westerman, and French should get plenty of opportunities to punish Castleford.

He has proven in the past he knows how to exploit them, and with Field absent, he will take on an even bigger role in the attack, so he looks good value in the anytime tryscorer market for Friday's Super League encounter.
