Australian Football: Rudan demanding strong finish

Mark Rudan has urged his Western Sydney Wanderers players to finish the season strongly as he begins making plans for next season and beyond.

The Wanderers chances of making the top six are hanging by a thread and they are priced at 33/1 to get there over the remaining five games of the season.

Big Jets clash

Western Sydney blew a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Central Coast Mariners last week and need to bounce back to keep their finals hopes alive.

Wanderers are back in action on Wednesday when they face another side looking to make the top six, the Newcastle Jets, and three points are an absolute must.

Whatever happens Rudan want his players to give their all and show they want to be a part of what he is building at the club.

Playing for their futures

"I'm still assessing them," Rudan said of his players. "I want them to do it for themselves first and foremost because as players it is their career.

"We're just there to be at a service for them and to help them grow as part of their journey but ultimately it's their careers. They can either make things harder or easier for me.

"If they all do the right things, they all come in there with a great attitude and train hard and want to be part of it, it makes my job harder. We're striving to win all of those games irrespective, (but) they've got to do it for themselves first and foremost."
