Ruben Amorim: We 'choke' in every game

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has slammed his team after they began their pre-season with a 1-0 loss to ASEAN All-Stars.

We don't have it in us not to choke in every exercise, in every game, that is what happened.

Amorim didn't hold back in the criticism of his squad during his post-match interview.

"We should win these kind of games, no matter what. We need to bring that inside of us in every game.

"The important thing is no injuries with this weather and to arrive here in this day. It is not an excuse, we should perform better."

Harry Maguire started as captain alongside Casemiro, Patrick Dorgu, Andre Onana, Ayden Heaven, Diogo Dalot, Manuel Ugarte, Kobbie Mainoo and Rasmus Hojlund but they were unable to make any significant impact as the first-half drew to a close at 0-0.

Bruno Fernandes, Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo were amongst 11 changes at half-time but they could stop Maund Maung Lwin from netting a 71st-minute winner.

Boos rang out as the United players left the pitch with Ruben Amorim suggesting that it might be something the players need.

He said, "I'm always guilty of the performance of the team, no matter what. Since I've been here from the first day, I am guilty.

"The boos from the fans is something that we need, maybe. Because every game we lost in the Premier League, they were always there."

Manchester United travelled more than 6,000 miles away from Old Trafford just two days after the conclusion of the Premier League season where they finished 15th after a final day victory against Aston Villa.

Ruben Amorim says that he is 'excited' about what the club can achieve in 2025/26.

Fresh faces are expected with a £62.5m deal for Matheus Cunha seemingly imminent after United met the release clause for the Brazilian.

Cunha netted 15 times and added a further six assists for Wolves in the Premier League this season and has reportedly demanded the number 10 shirt when he makes the move to Old Trafford.
