Harness Racing: Rock N Roll Doo shines at Menangle

Mick Stanley believes Rock N Roll Doo still has the potential to be the best horse he has ever trained following his latest win at Tabcorp Park, Menangle, on Saturday night.

Rock N Roll Doo was returning from a spell and put in a dominant performance to take the win with ease in the Beraldo Pace.

Impressive win

Stanley’s charge made his way to the front and dominated from there. He eventually won by a comfortable eight metres and the trainer was singing his praises after the win.

It was even more impressive considering it was Rock N Roll Doo’s first outing since racing in both the Group 1 Chariots of Fire and Schweppes Sprint at Menangle back in February.

“I said last year through the Derby, and a few people might have scoffed at me a little bit, that this horse, I thought, was potentially the best horse I've trained,” Stanley told reporters. “And I think the way he keeps improving, he's going to have every chance to prove that.”

The Rising Sun

Stanley is now hoping his charge can earn a spot in The Rising Sun, Queensland’s feature for three and four-year-old pacers that will be raced at Albion Park on 9th July.

Four slots have been taken already but Rock N Roll Doo is doing his chances of taking one of the remainder no harm at all.

"We all chase around a lot of horses to find a good one, and when you do find one like that it's a great feeling,” Stanley added.
