Keith Deller MBE provides his extensive insight into Monday evening's crucial Grand Slam of Darts group stage clash between Rob Cross and Peter Wright, explaining where he feels the betting value can be found.
Rob Cross v Peter Wright
Monday 11th November (21:50)
This match now has far more riding on it than Rob Cross would have been hoping for.
'Voltage' would have been home and dry, with a spot in the last 16 guaranteed had he beaten Martin Lukeman on Sunday, but a surprise loss means he now has to beat Peter Wright this evening, and hope that is enough to seal his progression.
Rob was in a commanding position and should have won that game, and it will now be interesting to see how he responds to that against a player, who despite being eliminated, is still capable of producing top quality darts from time to time.
Peter will be concerned about his form, but he can play with total freedom now which could possibly tip the balance in his favour.
That said, I am still expecting Rob to bounce back from his Sunday disappointment by securing the points he needs to edge himself through to the knockout rounds.
A double on Cross winning this match together with landing the most 100+ checkouts looks appealing at its current price, whilst I also expect 'Voltage' to weigh in with three maximums given his prowess on that treble 20 bed.
A victory should be enough to get him through, but that will depend on the other match between Lukeman and Leonard Gates, which could mean it all comers down to leg difference!
Odds will display when markets are live.
