Ex-Wycombe Wanderers owner Rob Couhig has completed the acquisition of League One outfit Reading.
New owner Rob Couhig reportedly attempted to buy the Royals last year but negotiations broke down in September 2024.
Following months of uncertainty, League One side Reading released a club statement regarding the new ownership of the club, much to the delight of their fans.
The club are pleased to announce that Redwood Holdings Limited - a subsidiary company of Dogwood LLC, owned by Rob Couhig and Todd Trosclair of New Orleans, Louisiana - has completed the acquisition of 100% of the shareholding in Reading Football Club.
“The takeover, which has received EFL clearance, completed very early on Wednesday morning and includes the Select Car Leasing Stadium and Bearwood Park Training Ground.
“Both Couhig and Trosclair will join the club’s board with immediate effect, with Rob Couhig being named as Chairman.”
An unstable era under past owner Dai Yongge is now over, having previously breached profit and sustainability rules and failing to comply with the terms of an agreed business plan, seeing Reading docked six points on two separate occasions, contributing to their eventual relegation from the Championship in 2023.
Fan protests and mass pitch invasions saw Yongge put the club up for sale in March 2024, with Reading battling through a series of transfer embargoes to record a respectable seventh place finish in the 2024/25 term.
The club's official statement added: "Redwood is ambitious and dedicated towards the club returning to its rightful place within the English football pyramid, while adhering to clear principles of honesty, transparency, and financial sustainability. Further communication from Redwood will follow in due course."
Couhig is a man of many trades, known as an investor, a lawyer and entrepreneur.
He is also the former owner of Wycombe Wanderers, earning the club a first-ever promotion to the Championship in 2020.
