Australian Football: Roar defeat frustrates Moon

Brisbane Roar boss Warren Moon was again critical of his side as their poor A-League campaign continued with a 2-0 home defeat against the Central Coast Mariners.

Brisbane have not won in the last six matches and are set to finish the season second bottom on the ladder with only Perth Glory below them.

Bright start

Roar actually started the game the brighter of the two sides but could not find a way through. Indeed they had to wait until the 33rd minute before having their first attempt on target when Alex Parsons forced a save out of Mark Birighitti.

But not for the first time this season, Brisbane conceded at a really bad time. Lewis Miller put the visitors in front on the stroke of half-time. Much to the frustration of Moon.

Brisbane had chances to equalise in the second half before Garang Kuol put the game to bed in the 63rd minute.

Frustrated Moon

"We've had our arse kicked all season in the big moments," Moon said of Miller’s opening goal. "We were quite solid in the first half, I don't know if they even had a chance up until that point.

"We had moments going the other way. We weren't brave enough. We weren't clinical or aggressive enough for the chances we had and again a lapse in concentration.

"We didn't track a runner and they punished us, we're lacking in the key moments right now."

Brisbane wrap up a disappointing season when they entertain Sydney FC on Tuesday.
