Aussie quick Jhye Richardson can understand why he has been left out of the squad that will tour Pakistan and believes it is the best for his long-term career.
Australia are set to announce their party to tour Pakistan in March but Richardson will not be in it despite impressing when given a chance during the recent Ashes series.
Injury issues
The West Aussie has had his issues on the injury front over the last few years and only made his return to the Test arena this summer following an injury to Josh Hazlewood.
The 25-year-old responded by taking 5-42 in the second innings of the second Test in Adelaide and hoped he would have done enough to be selected for the trip to Pakistan.

However Richardson will miss out and will instead figure in the 16-man squad that will face Sri Lanka in the home five-match T20 series that will begin next month.
Richardson says the selectors spoke to him about the decision and he fully understands and supports where they are coming from.
Positive conversations
"These conversations have always been positive," Richardson revealed. "They’ve mainly been about the longevity of my career. Not only moving forward, but in the short term as well.
"Obviously I’ve had some injury setbacks within the last few years. It’s making sure that we’re in the best place possible to play for the next 10 years and making sure that the body’s right and 100 per cent moving forward.
"While the Pakistan tour is really important, this white ball trip for me to get back in the swing of things of bowling with the white ball I think is equally as important."
