bet365's boxing expert Rob Tebbutt looks ahead to this weekend's WBO women's lightweight world title bout between Rhiannon Dixon and Terri Harper in Sheffield and reveals where he feels the betting value lies.
Rhiannon Dixon faces Terri Harper in Sheffield as she makes the first defence of her WBO lightweight world title.
Dixon enters the bout a sizeable favourite despite having just ten professional fights.
This could be considered a surprise when factoring in Harper is a two-weight world champion and has faced stellar names such as Natasha Jonas, Alycia Baumgardner and Sandy Ryan.
However, it’s worth noting that Harper has come up short in those bouts and has never quite looked the same fighter since being stopped by Baumgardner in November 2021.
Last time out against Ryan, Harper looked particularly fragile and was fortunate to escape with a draw against Cecilia Braekhus in her bout prior to that.
I think Dixon is getting Harper at a good time and, provided she is able to assert herself early on, I favour her to emerge victorious on Saturday night.
While lightweight is a more suitable weight for Harper than welter or super-welter, I would also be mindful of how making 135lbs may impact on her already questionable punch resistance.
With that in mind, I think there is plenty of value in Rhiannon Dixon to win this one inside the distance.
