Our resident boxing expert Rob Tebbutt previews this weekend's WBO lightweight title showdown between Rhiannon Dixon and Karen Elizabeth Carabajal and reveals where the betting value can be found.
Rhiannon Dixon challenges for her first world title as she takes on Karen Carabajal for the vacant WBO strap.
Dixon, trained by Manchester favourite Anthony Crolla, has gone from strength-to-strength in her relatively short professional career so far, producing a career-best performance last time out to outpoint Katarina Thanderz. She has improved at a rapid rate, but faces a tough test this weekend against the awkward, rangy Argentinean.
In her only previous appearance outside her homeland, Carabajal lost a competitive 10 round decision to Irish star Katie Taylor - which, of course, carries no shame. She did show a lot in that fight, however, and I expect her to be physically the stronger woman on the night.
This fight comes down to whether Dixon can hold her shape and not panic under the pressure from Carabajal. If she can do that, then a points victory should be hers. However, I have a sneaky suspicion that this fight may be too soon for Dixon and I think Carabajal at 4/1 to win a decision represents good value.
