Republic of Ireland and England meet for the first time in nine years and both sides will be looking to win their Nations League opener and impress their new respective managers.

While Carsley will be aiming to stake his claim to be given the Three Lions job on a permanent basis, Heimir Hallgrimsson takes charge of the hosts for the first time since his appointment back in July.

Hallgrimsson will be striving to mastermind another famous victory over England after he was Iceland's co-manager for their famous 2-1 win at Euro 2016.

After Gareth Southgate left the England post following the Euros final defeat to Spain, the FA have given Under-21 boss Carsley the job on a temporary basis while they continue the search for a permanent manager, and the former Everton midfielder selected some familiar names from his time with the Under-21s in his first squad.

Angel Gomes, who has worked with Carsley having been capped 18 times at under-21 level, gets his first senior call-up .Chelsea's Noni Madueke also earned a call-up for the first time after his hat-trick against Wolves, while Nottingham Forest's Morgan Gibbs-White will also be hoping to receive his first cap.
