FA Cup replays: Wolves aim to heap more pain on Liverpool

Six FA Cup third-round ties ended in draws and the replays take place this week, with five on Tuesday and one on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Forest Green Rovers host Birmingham City on Tuesday after their initial clash was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

It's all set up for an exciting few days, although upsets could be at a premium as the bigger clubs involved eye a place in the fourth round.

Tuesday's stand-out game is arguably the all-Premier League clash at Molinuex between Wolves and Liverpool, after their incident-packed Anfield tie ended in an entertaining 2-2 draw, while non-league duo Boreham Wood and Chesterfield get another crack at trying to advance at the expense of league opposition.

Wolves were a controversial VAR call away from knocking holders Liverpool out earlier this month, but they get another chance at home against Jurgen Klopp's out-of-sorts side.

The Reds have been below-par all season but the last few weeks have been particularly difficult for the Merseysiders, who have lost 3-1 at Brentford and 3-0 at Brighton in the league.

Saturday's South Coast showing was dismal, with Klopp admitting it was one of the worst performances of his seven-year tenure and he will expect a reaction in the Black Country.

However, the German coach is also expected to ring the changes with James Milner, Joe Gomez, Naby Keita and Fabio Carvalho among those in line for starts.

It's far from certain he will get an improved showing at Molinuex as confidence levels remain fragile at Anfield and a home win could well be on the cards to deepen the Reds' gloom.

Wolves, in contrast, appear to be improving under new boss Julen Lopetegui and look good value at 3/1 in Full Time Result to progress, where they would face Brighton away in the next round.

The Midlanders have been bad news for Liverpool in the FA Cup's recent history, too, winning 2-1 in a fourth-round tie at Anfield in 2017 before prevailing by the same scoreline at home in a third-round tie two years later.

A similar Wolves 2-1 success on Tuesday is available in Correct Score at 12/1.

Boreham Wood face difficult Accy ask

National League side Boreham Wood stunned League One Accrington Stanley with a 1-1 draw in the first game between the two, but it may be that the minnows' best chance of making the fourth round has now gone.

Accy posted a much-needed 2-0 league win at the weekend when they saw off Bristol Rovers at home to ease their relegation fears and if they turn in a similar display they should put an end to Wood's FA Cup dreams.

The non-leaguers are 11th in the fifth tier and drew 1-1 again on Saturday for the third straight game, when being held 1-1 by Notts County.

They, of course, will give their all to make the fourth round, where a bigger home tie against either Cardiff City or Leeds United is the reward for the victor, but Stanley should get the job done and end the Wood's superb run in the competition thus far.

Stanley are 1/1 for victory in the Full Time Result market.

In-form Baggies can end Spireites' dream

Another non-league outfit, Chesterfield, also have dreams of making the fourth round, this time at the expense of Championship side West Brom.

They have to make a tough trip to the Hawthorns for their replay, though, and it seems their run in the cup could also end on Tuesday night, with a home win in Full Time Result available at 2/5.

The Baggies are now up to sixth in the second tier after coming from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at Luton Town at the weekend and Carlos Corberan's men are unbeaten in five overall and have won four straight matches in the Championship.

The Spireites are in decent form, too, winning their last three in the league, and haven't played since the original tie - which was a pulsating 3-3 draw.

That will ensure they are well rested and the visitors will be dangerous but, ultimately, this is a big ask taking on an in-form Albion side from three divisions above.

Two all-Championship ties

The other FA Cup replays on Tuesday see Championship pair Wigan Athletic and Luton Town meet at the DW Stadium after their initial tie ended 1-1, while two more teams from the second tier - Swansea City and Bristol City - also try again after they couldn't be separated following a 1-1 draw first time around.

Meanwhile, Birmingham will hope to get the better of Forest Green, who are bottom of League One, as these two face off for the first time after the original game at the New Lawn was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

The Blues, who have lost their last four games straight in the Championship, are 10/11 to progress to set up a fourth-round clash with Blackburn Rovers.

Leeds go in search of rare win

Leeds United were 2-0 down at Championship Cardiff City in their first game before belatedly coming back in the second half to earn this replay, which is the only one scheduled for Wednesday evening.

The Whites remain without a win in all competitions in seven games but were impressive at times when going down to a narrow 2-1 defeat at Aston Villa in the Premier League on Friday.

Jesse Marsch's priority is likely to be league duty as he looks to stave off a relegation fight, but he will simply be desperate for a win of any sort.

This is a great chance against a Bluebirds side who are just above the relegation zone in the second tier and are also without a win in their last seven games, although they have drew six of these matches.

Leeds to progress is 1/3 in the Full Time Result market.
