Reece Bellotti and Michael Gomez Jr collide in a hugely-anticipated rearranged showdown in Manchester on Saturday night and our resident boxing expert Rob Tebbutt takes a closer look at the fight and highlights where the betting value could be found.
Reece Bellotti and Michael Gomez Jr get the chance to settle their feud on Saturday night, as they meet for Bellotti’s British and Commonwealth super-featherweight titles.
After their initial bout was called-off at the eleventh hour, the rivalry between the pair has simmered nicely, with fans anticipating an action-packed bout between two come-forward bangers.
I do feel this is a fight that Bellotti is a rightful favourite in, due to his experience over the years in and around British level.
He is as battle-hardened as can be and, should he find himself in the trenches, he will be confident he can bite down to win.
Gomez Jr on the other hand, is still something of an unknown quantity.
While impressing last May against Kane Baker, he was fortunate to get the decision against Levi Giles in their English title fight in March 2023.
The key, I believe, is how Bellotti approaches the fight.
If he stands and trades - which he has done in the past - then he gives the naturally-bigger Gomez Jr a chance to grind him down.
However, if Bellotti chooses to box - which he has also done in the past - then I feel Gomez Jr will struggle to cut the ring off and have any sustained success.
I expect Bellotti to do something in-between the two and get the win, either by decision or late stoppage.
