Adelaide United have announced the signing of young defender Harry van der Saag, who has penned a two-year contract with the club.
The 22-year-old has spent the last three seasons with Sydney FC and jumped at the chance to join the Reds as he goes in search of more regular first-team football.
Van der Saag played a total of 45 games for the Sky Blues mainly as a right-back and is excited at the prospect of joining Adelaide.
He believes they are a club on the up under the leadership of coach Carl Veart and believes he will get the chance to develop his game.

“Adelaide United has always been a Club that gives young players opportunities and once I realised their interest in me, I really wanted to move and try a new challenge,” he told the club’s website.
“For me, I hope I can continue to develop and play as much as I can, and from a team perspective hopefully we can win some silverware. I’m coming to Adelaide hungry for success and cannot wait to join my teammates and begin pre-season.”
Meanwhile Veart is also delighted to get Van der Saag on board after tracking him for quite some time.
“Harry is a player with a lot of potential and one we feel can take his game to another level here at Adelaide because the environment we have established at the Club is one that enables young players every opportunity to flourish,” he added.
“We’re confident Harry will be another strong addition to the squad and we look forward to welcoming him to Adelaide.”
