Russell Martin has put pen to paper on a three-year deal as Rangers head coach.
The move for Southampton's ex-manager comes after Philippe Clement left the club in February to be replaced by Barry Ferguson on an interim basis.
Much has been made about who might take the Gers hotseat with consistent links to Davide Ancelotti and Steven Gerrard refusing to go away.
Martin is closing in on a century of wins as a gaffer with spells at MK Dons, Swansea City and most recently Southampton.
In 2024, led Southampton to the Premier League, via the playoffs, but was dismissed after managing just one win from the opening 16 league matches of the 2024/25 season.
It is a privilege to be named Head Coach of Rangers Football Club at the beginning of this exciting new chapter.
Martin - who received 29 caps for Scotland - said in an official club statement.
"I know what this club demands. From my time here, I had a taste of how special this club is, the expectation, the passion and the history. Now, as I return, I’m determined to bring success back, for the supporters, the players, and everyone inside this club.
"I’m here to set standards, work hard and do my very best to earn the respect of the Rangers fans.
"There’s a lot to be done, but the goal is clear: win matches, win trophies, and give Rangers fans a team that they can be proud of. We want to play with bravery, to take the ball, to be aggressive, and to stand up in the big moments."
New of Martin's appointment ushers in a new era at Rangers.
The club announced last week that it had been taken over by a US consortium led by 49ers Enterprises and Andrew Cavanagh.
An off-shoot of the San Francisco 49ers NFL franchise - they also own newly-promoted Premier League outfit Leeds United.
With a pledge to invest £20m straight away, Russell Martin should have plenty of firepower as he prepares try and wrestle the Scottish Premiership away from Celtic and lead his new team out in the UEFA Champions League.
“I am delighted to welcome Russell to Rangers. This was a thorough, rigorous process and Russell impressed throughout. His appointment embodies the club’s goal of attracting top talent, empowering them, and supporting them," said Rangers chariman Andrew Cavenagh.
“We believe that Russell can improve on-pitch performance while also helping build the culture and infrastructure necessary for consistent and long-term success.”
Pre-season begins for Rangers when they welcome Belgian Pro League side Club Brugge to Ibrox on 6th July.
Gers are then tasked with all-important UEFA Champions League qualifiers with the first leg taking place on 22/23 July.
Fixtures for the Scottish Premiership season are released on 20th June with the campaign getting underway during the first weekend of August.
