Rafael Leao potential next club

We examine which club Rafael Leao could join next following reports the Portuguese winger is likely to depart Milan in the summer transfer window.

Football

Leao was an unused substitute in Milan's final match of the 2024/25 campaign as the Rossoneri missed out on qualification for a European competition by finishing eighth.

The winger's omission sparked rumours of his possible departure and with Milan set to undergo a transitional period in the wake of a disappointing season, reports from Lombardy suggest the club are willing to listen to offers for their most prized asset.

It's understood Leao has a release clause of €175m, although interested parties will be looking to negotiate a considerably cheaper fee.

Chelsea

Chelsea's UEFA Champions League qualification will enable them to press ahead with their major transfer plans and it's understood Enzo Maresca is keen to reinforce his wide options ahead of next season.

The Blues are expected to renege on their obligation to buy agreement for Jadon Sancho from Manchester United and Chelsea lack depth beyond Pedro Neto and Noni Madueke.

Chelsea have been repeatedly linked to Leao for several years and possess the financial muscle to oust rivals if they decide to pursue a deal.

Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich have drawn up a comprehensive shortlist of wingers that would bolster their left wing options and Rafael Leao meets a lot of Vincent Kompany's criteria.

The Bavarians are in protracted negotiations with Leroy Sane over a new contract and Kingsley Coman's campaign has been hindered by recurring injury setbacks.

Bayern have also been linked to Cody Gakpo, Kaoru Mitoma and Nico Williams, although reports in Germany suggest a move for Leao is high on their agenda.

Arsenal

Noise around Arsenal going big in the summer transfer window has heightened and the addition of Leao would represent a marquee signing who would help to solve some of the Gunners' attacking deficiencies.

A striker still remains a priority for Arsenal over the coming months, but Mikel Arteta would also like to enhance his wide options and Leao's productivity would aid Arsenal's output.

According to Foot Mercato, Arsenal's new sporting director Andrea Berta held talks with the player and his agent regarding a potential switch to the Emirates Stadium.
