Rafael Espinoza and Robeisy Ramirez meet in the early hours of Sunday morning in a rematch of one of the best fights of 2023.

Despite emerging victorious in the first encounter, defending champion Espinoza enters the return bout as a marginal underdog against two-time Olympic gold medallist Ramirez.

In their first bout, Ramirez looked lethargic, but was still able to score a heavy knockdown in the fifth round.

However, Espinoza’s volume and, most importantly, his sheer size - standing at a gigantic 6ft 1” - proved to be too tricky a puzzle for ‘El Tren’ to solve.

Espinoza would pick himself up off the canvas, rally late and scored a pivotal final round knockdown that clinched the fight for him on the judges’ cards.

I do feel that there was an element of complacency from Ramirez in the first bout, with the Cuban based in Las Vegas where distractions are rife, but I feel he will be dialled in for this fight and am expecting a much improved performance.

Espinoza is still something of an unknown quantity, but what we do know is that he’s going to come forward and ‘put it on’ Ramirez.

He is freakishly tall for the weight and has impressive combination punching, but I feel the latter could be his downfall as he opens himself up to counter-punching opportunities against a sharp-shooter like Robeisy.
