'Quiet' Frazer Clarke vowing to do all of his talking inside the boxing ring

2020 Olympic Bronze medalist Frazer Clarke is vowing to do all of his talking inside the ring as he continues his social media sabbatical ahead of his April return against Ebenezer Tetteh.

The BOXXER star succumbed to the first defeat of his professional career against Fabio Wardley last October after fighting out an enthralling split draw with the heavy-handed British, Commonwealth and European heavyweight champion in their first fight.

Many felt Clarke had done enough to seal victory in a fight of the year contender at the London’s O2 Arena last Easter, teeing up a hugely-anticipated domestic rematch in Saudi Arabia perfectly.

However, the heavy-handed Wardley laid Clarke flat out inside the opening round of their Riyadh sequel, inflicting a devastating blow upon the 33-year-old’s lofty world title ambitions.

“I have been quiet, and kept myself out of the limelight, keeping my nut down and really making sure I am doing everything possible to get my journey in the sport back on the right path,” Clarke told Boxing News.

“The top and bottom of it is that I got absolutely chinned in my last fight, so I can’t come out and start giving it the big ‘un.

“Boxing is becoming very cringy nowadays and there are a lot of people on social media saying this, that and the other without doing anything inside a boxing ring, and I don’t want to be one of those people.

“I have a great following, I have a lot of interest on social media too, but I want to do my talking inside the ring – the results have to show inside the ring.

“Having social media followers, posting videos and doing silly things online means absolutely nothing if you aren’t getting the wins and knockouts on fight night, so that’s all I am trying to do.”

Clarke admits he does however make an exception for former world champion, and number one ranked contender, Joseph Parker, after the New Zealander’s social media call-out video to Oleksandr Usyk went viral.

“Joseph Parker is different because he delivers, and his call out video for Usyk was brilliant,” he laughed.

“When you are performing the way he has been performing, and putting good opponents flat out on their backs then you earn the right to do whatever you want!”
