Paris Saint-Germain nearing agreement for Bournemouth central defender Ilya Zabarnyi

Paris Saint-Germain are said to be at the final stages of negotiations for Bournemouth central defender Ilya Zabarnyi.

Having already lost Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid and left-back Milos Kerkez heavily linked with a move to Liverpool, Bournemouth could have a big summer ahead of them in regards to recruitment.

To make matters worse, reports suggest that UEFA Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain are closing in on the signing of central defender Ilya Zabarnyi to add to an already impressive backline.

Fabrizio Romano took to ‘X’ to report the French side’s interest.

Paris Saint-Germain are now at final stages of negotiations for Ilya Zabarnyi after new proposal sent to Bournemouth.

Journalist Fabrice Hawkins further claimed that he has been on the “shortlist since January.”

The Ligue 1 and UEFA Champions League champions have jumped from strength to strength under Luis Enrique, and while their forward line consisting of Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Bradley Barcola has proved exceptional, their defence has arguably looked just as impressive at times.

While Willian Pacho is just 23 years old, fellow starting central defender Marquinhos is aged 31, and the club may have one eye on replacing the Brazilian in the not-too-distant future.

As for Bournemouth, they broke their seasonal points tally in the 2024/25 Premier League campaign, but the objective of further breaking this tally in the upcoming term could prove difficult.

Zabarnyi’s centre back partner Huijsen has joined forces with fellow Spaniard Xabi Alonso at Real Madrid, and Kerkez looks set for a move to Premier League champions Liverpool. Antoine Semenyo has also been linked with a move away from the Cherries.

An eagerly anticipated summer transfer window awaits for a number of teams, but Bournemouth’s main objective may be keeping hold of the crucial players that they have left.
