Prix du Jockey Club Odds: Ghostwriter set to challenge for French Derby

Ghostwriter heads to Chantilly as one of the favourites to win the Prix du Jockey Club for Clive Cox and Jeff Smith this weekend.

The three-year-old is reported to be in excellent shape for the race commonly known as the 'French Derby', as he prepares to step up to a mile and a quarter.

Ghostwriter enjoyed a sensational campaign in 2023, winning all three of his outings including the Group 2 Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes at Newmarket.

He returned to the Rowley Mile for the 2000 Guineas at the start of May and his solid fourth-placed finish is looking all the more impressive with each passing week.

Rosallion and Haatem, who finished second and third that day, went on to finish first and second in the Irish equivalent three weeks ago, while sixth-placed Insherin has subsequently won the Group 2 Sandy Lane Stakes at Haydock.

Diego Velazquez is likely to go off as favourite for Aidan O'Brien after a decision was made to head to France rather than Epsom, while other contenders for the race include the unbeaten duo Fast Tracker and Look De Vega.
