The top flight of Portuguese football has taken on various forms over the years, established as the Campeonato da Liga da Primeira Divisao in 1934 and now recognised as the Primeira Liga in the present day.
The top division in Portugal has been dominated by three teams for the entirety of its history - Benfica, Porto and Sporting CP.
Benfica lead the way with 38 league titles, closely followed up by current champions Porto, who have won the competition 31 times.
Sporting CP have ground to make up if they are to reach the heights of Benfica and Porto, having won the league title on 21 occasions.
