After Leeds lost at QPR and Ipswich were held by Hull, Leicester know they can be crowned Championship kings with a victory over Preston.
The Foxes will be chasing a third straight win and should have too much for Ryan Lowe’s side, who are 10th and unable to make the play-offs.
Leicester to win to nil - 7/4
The Foxes have regained their form at the right time after consecutive 1-0 defeats to Millwall and Plymouth. Enzo Maresca’s men have since beaten West Brom and then Southampton to move them to the brink of title glory.
A stunning 5-0 success over Saints was worthy of a Championship-winning team as Leicester brushed aside the south coast outfit to pretty much end their opponents’ own automatic promotion aims.
Leicester then watched on with glee as first Leeds were unexpectedly hammered by QPR and then Ipswich threw away the lead three times to draw 3-3 at Hull.
That means the Tractor Boys, who, like City, still have two games to play, are the only side who can stop the Foxes winning the title but it will all be immaterial if Maresca’s men do the business on Monday night.
The manner of their win over Southampton suggests the leaders are in the mood to confirm their superiority over their rivals at the top and they can secure the vital win without conceding.
Preston have had promotion or at least play-off ambitions of their own for much of the campaign but now sit down in 10th and a top-six finish is out of reach. They will still want to end the season on a high by securing a top-half finish, however.
But they have disappointingly lost their last three games without scoring and it is set to be a similar story for them on Monday.
Wilfred Ndidi to score anytime - 9/2
Leicester’s Wilfred Ndidi has stepped up to the goalscoring plate when his side have needed him most.
The midfielder has bagged two in his last two games to double his tally for the season and he could again be the man Maresca’s men rely on against Preston.
The 27-year-old could have had more than those two goals as he attempted five shots across the two games in total, so the Nigeria international has certainly been looking for opportunities to hurt the opposition in the final third.
With Preston having conceded five goals in their last three outings, the home side’s defence seems likely to be breached again and Ndidi could well be among the scorers for Leicester as they look to get the job done on their big night.
Mads Frokjaer-Jensen to be booked - 9/2
Midfielder Mads Frokjaer-Jensen was named on the bench for Preston in the 1-0 defeat at QPR last time out but he’s set to return to the starting line-up against Leicester.
With the visitors likely to be at full tilt and expected to largely dominate proceedings, there is a strong likelihood that the hosts will pick up several yellow cards as they look to stay in the game.
Frokjaer-Jensen has been booked only four times in the league this season but the Dane has committed the most fouls in the North End squad, and by some distance, giving away 52 free-kicks compared to the next highest offenders, Alan Browne and Will Keane (both 44).
It would not be a surprise, therefore, to see Frokjaer-Jensen in trouble with the referee at Deepdale on Monday.
