The United States head back to Medinah for the first time since 2012 as they prepare to take on the International team at the 2026 Presidents Cup.
Of course, the 12 players teeing it up this week for the United States will only remember the 2012 Ryder Cup as viewers rather than players, with Jackson Koivun just seven years old at the time.
Koivun was the last man on the team for the USA after a superb start to life as a professional, winning on just his third pro start, going on to reach the FedExCup play-offs. Koivun does have plenty of team golf experience following a decorated collegiate career, and was 3-1 on the Walker Cup team as an amateur last year.
Chris Gotterup and Jacob Bridgeman join Koivun as the other rookies on the US team.
It's hardly been a banner year for American golfers with Patrick Cantlay and Justin Thomas receiving picks, as well as Jacob Bridgeman, who had one top-25 finish in 13 events prior to the play-offs, though there's plenty of strength at the top of the side with Scottie Scheffler, Sam Burns, Wyndham Clark and Cameron Young all playing excellent golf throughout 2026.
After a stirring fightback on the Friday in 2024, the International team will carry some confidence heading into this year's event, but will need their big names to do a lot of the heavy lifting.
The Internationals are weaker for the loss of LIV golfers, meaning Joaquin Niemann, Lucas Herbert, Marc Leishman, Cameron Smith and others are all absent, with Si-woo Kim, Hideki Matsuyama, Tom Kim and Adam Scott leading the charge for Geoff Ogilvy's side.
