Premier League TV money distribution

The richest league in the world for a number of years, much of the Premier League's income is generated via its worldwide fanbase.

Millions and millions of viewers both at home and abroad tune into the English top flight every week; as such, the league is able to generate enormous TV money.

But how is it distributed amongst the 20 teams each season? Find out below.

What is the guaranteed TV money for each club in the Premier League?

While the Premier League is of course a meritocracy, with the best teams earning the biggest rewards, the powers that be were keen not to fall into the same trap as La Liga, where the two best teams would constantly make the most money and create something of a duopoly in the league.

Barcelona, for example, could earn more than four times more than the lowest-earning clubs in the league, whereas in the Premier League, the gap between top and bottom is much smaller.

In the 2023/24 season, every club was guaranteed £86.9m from a central pot of funds before an additional £8.2m from a central commercial fund. In total, each Premier League club were guaranteed £95.1m for the season, with more to be made in prize money and for each TV appearance.

How much does each Premier League club get per TV appearance?

On top of the shared fund from the Premier League's TV deal, clubs earn extra money for each time they appear on TV, with each club awarded a 'facility fee' for each time they're shown, estimated to be around £900,000 for the 2024/25 season.
