Sheffield United 11/10 to break Premier League goals conceded record

Leaking five goals for the fifth time this season as Arsenal prevailed 6-0 at Bramall Lane, Sheffield United have been priced at 11/10 to break Swindon Town's 30-year record of 100 goals conceded in a single Premier League season.

Sheffield United's latest drubbing at the hands of the Gunners means the Blades have shipped 72 goals in 27 Premier League matches, with Chris Wilder's charges notably even more porous at their Bramall Lane home than they are on their travels.

Rock bottom of the Premier League on 13 points at present, the Blades are 11 points from safety and look in need of a miracle to preserve their top flight status.

bet365's Steve Freeth said: "Chris Wilder will be hurting and he'll have a huge job on his hands in lifting morale in his beloved Blades dressing room after the latest hammering.

"The Bramall Lane club are hurtling towards a return to the Championship at an alarming rate of knots with Sheffield United now 11/10 from 7/4 to break the record of most goals conceded in the process."

Swindon Town (93/94)

Ipswich Town (94/95)

Derby County (07/08)

Fulham (13/14)

Norwich City (21/22)

Barnsley (97/98)

Burnley (09/10)

Wolves (11/12)

Swindon Town (93/94) and Ipswich Town (94/95) are currently the two statistically leakiest sides in Premier League history, but this was at a time in which England's top flight featured 22 teams in a 42-match campaign, in contrast to today's context of 20 teams and 38 matches.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given their record-low points total of 11, Derby County currently hold the record for the most goals conceded in a 38-match Premier League season, shipping 89 in a famously forgettable campaign for the Rams in 2007/08.

Given Sheffield United currently average 2.67 goals against per game, they are in line to surpass Swindon's record tally of 100 in the 1993/94 season if they continue shipping goals at their current rate.

The Blades still have fixtures left to play against Liverpool, Chelsea, Newcastle, Tottenham and Manchester United before the season comes to a close, and it's difficult to see Wilder's men being spared of further hidings the way they are playing at the moment.

Although they are already safely passed Derby's record-low points tally of 11 having accrued 13 so far this term, Sheffield United definitely look like they have their work cut out to avoid an equally humiliating record as the team to have conceded the most goals in the 32-year history of the Premier League.
