Keith Deller delivers his FIVE Best Bets for Night Four of the 2024 Premier League Darts:
Luke Humphries - To Win Night Four
Luke was superb in Glasgow last week, and was narrowly beaten out by Michael van Gerwen in the final, but I am backing him to get his first ever Premier League nightly victory up in Newcastle on Thursday.
He's just starting to find the same form that won him the World Championship in January, and I just feel he is the man to beat this week despite the fact that MvG will be looking to make it three on the spin.
Michael Smith v Nathan Aspinall - Over 9.5 Legs @ 5/6
There's really not much between the two players and I really feel that this is going to go beyond nine legs. They are both good friends and across the last 16 meetings, they have both won nine each.
Now in the premier League last year, the two players met five times and in two of those five we saw the match extend into a tenth or eleventh leg, and I like the look of the 5/6 on offer for Thursday night's tungsten tussle to follow suit.
Luke Humphries to beat Rob Cross 6-4 @ 5/1
Another game that I am expecting to go close, but ultimately fall in favour of Luke Humphries. Now Rob Cross is as consistent as they come nowadays and I am expecting him to give Luke Humphries a real test in the quarter-finals.
There's definite value in the game going 'Over 9.5 Legs', which is priced at 8/13, but if you do fancy a little more bang for your buck then I would be looking at the BOOSTED price of 5/1 for Humphries to edge the game 6-4.
Luke Littler - Most 180s v Peter Wright @ 4/9
There's plenty of value to be had in this game I feel, including my pick of the night, Luke Littler to score the most 180s at 4/9. Peter is just starting find his form, but I still don't think he will trump the prolific maximum hitter Luke Littler this week.
There's also an appealing 5/6 on offer for the first leg to be won with a checkout of '41 or More', and I like this bet because you often see leaves of 56 or 58, and there's every chance that it gets taken out, especially now Peter Wright is starting to look a little more like his old self too.
Don't rule out a bullseye finish in any leg in this game either, at 13/8.
Gerwyn Price v Michael van Gerwen - Over 5.5 180s in the match @ 4/6
Now Michael van Gerwen should be flowing with confidence after winning each of the last two Premier League roadshows, and when he and Gerwyn Price collide, we always expect fireworks.
I do think MvG will get the win, but the value for me is in there being 'Over 5.5 180s', which is priced at 4/6. Now I know Michael can switch to the 19s quite often, but when he is on song he does like to hit those 180s, and we all know that Gerwyn will chip in with his fair share too.
If these two hit it off early doors, and bounce off of each others power scoring, we could be in for a real treat.
